Chloe even got the float ring out and put it on when we got home :)

Tsunami 2010

Well yesterday was interesting to say the least. Pat got a wake-up call at 3:30 from the chief surgery resident warning us of the tsunami coming towards hawaii so we began to pack things up. lucky for us we were on the road by 5 and the traffic was flowing well, except at the gas stations and food stores. The first sirens didn't alarm until 6 so we missed out on traffic but anyone who was up early and turned on the radio or TV heard of the upcoming event. We headed to Tripler since Pat had to work and it's great location about 1,00 feet up on a mountain side. We first went upstairs to one of the surgery on-call room where Chloe played with her friend Scott. Once the cafeteria opened we got some breakfast with our friends (Stephanie and Heidi joined us at this time) which was very busy. After breakfast it was light outside and we headed farther up the hill to the family housing area that had a playground for the kids to play at. The view of the pearl arbor area was very nice up there. The kids had a great time playing up there all except the siren close to the playground when it went off for a minute or more. After about 2 hours up there we headed back down to the hospital and Stephanie and I put a blanket out on the grass and watched the ocean from there. The first wave was due at 11:05 in hilo on the big island and when nothing happened we thought it was over but about 20-30mins later the water started to recede out of their bay it seemed very real. luckily the waters around the islands pretty much slowly went out and in several times but no real large waves or any damage, thank God. So we headed home around 12:45 all very tired from the big Evac of 2010 but very happy nothing had happened and we learned a few tips if it were to happen again while we are here :)

Pigs & Ducks

Today we headed to the windward side of the island to a botanical garden for a little toddler talk about wild pigs. It was interesting to learn about them and after the kids made a pig on a bag as a little puppet. After the little class Chloe and I walked down to the lake to feed the ducks and fish some bread (this was Chloe's favorite part) after all the bread was gone we walked over to some shade near a large tree or so I thought. As we approached I realized it was a large cluster of bamboos all together, it was really neat and you can see it in the background on the on Chloe is eating lunch in. It was a fun morning outdoors!

Valentine's Craft

After stroller strides today the kids did a craft for valentines day. All the kids decorated a nice frame for their picture taken of them last week. Chloe put all of her stickers on and the glue for the extra add ons. The frame now is at home on Chloe's play kitchen cabinet!

Too Cute

Today I had opened the back of the van to load up things to bring to the recycling station and when I got to the back with somethings to put in I found Chloe had climbed up into the back. It was so cute, she had climbed up with her baby and then put her float ring around herself and the baby, I had to take a few pictures :)

Grammie Visit

Chloe has been having lots of fun with Grammie during her visit. We've gone to lots of beaches to include waikiki, north shore, ko'olina and Kaena point. The afternoon we went to waikiki we ate dinner on the beach and watched the pretty sunset. Also we've done the whale watch and went to a botanical garden. Of coarse we've also done some walks to playground in the neighborhood too! Chloe has also started to love eating yogurt once she saw grammie eating it and it's so cute to hear her say yogurt :)

Whale Watch

Well it's humpback whale season here and we headed out on a catamaran tour off the north shore. It was a lot of sun and fun. We were able to see lots of whale and got close even a few times to hear the whale clear out the blow hole with the old water. Chloe loved looking for the whale with the binoculars and kept on saying big whale. It was a great time together!
